CompTIA A+ (220-1201 & 220-1202) — Core 1 & Core 2
A+ is the starting line for a career in IT, and almost everything else builds on it. This course takes you from "I'm curious about tech" to "I can set up, secure, and fix real systems" — covering the hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting skills every IT support professional needs on day one. Across both Core 1 and Core 2, you won't just memorize facts for an exam; you'll work through the kind of break-fix scenarios, OS installs, and support tickets that fill a real help desk. By the end, you'll be ready to sit both A+ exams and step confidently into your first IT role.

Course Overview
The course is split across the two A+ exams, pairing each concept with a guided lab so you build practical confidence alongside exam knowledge. Core 1 grounds you in devices and networks; Core 2 takes you into operating systems, security, and professional practice.
Core 1 (220-1201)
- Mobile Devices — Laptop and mobile hardware, accessories, and connectivity options
- Networking — TCP/UDP, ports and protocols, wireless technologies, networked host services, and SOHO network configuration
- Hardware — Cabling, connectors, RAM, storage, motherboards, CPUs, power, and peripherals
- Virtualization & Cloud Computing — Cloud concepts and client-side virtualization
- Hardware & Network Troubleshooting — Diagnosing and resolving device, storage, display, and network issues
Core 2 (220-1202)
- Operating Systems — Windows installation and configuration, Windows editions and features, plus macOS, Linux, and mobile OS basics; scripting and remote-access fundamentals
- Security (28% — heaviest Core 2 domain) — Threats and vulnerabilities, malware detection and prevention, authentication, access control, endpoint hardening, and security best practices
- Software Troubleshooting — Resolving OS, application, malware, and mobile software issues
- Operational Procedures — Documentation, change management, safety, environmental controls, privacy, and professional communication
